Resources for GMAT Preparation and MBA Admissions

The year 2015 foretold a deeper preoccupation with GMAT scores than usual – by the media, MBA applicants, and the schools themselves. Read Dr. Amar’s predictions for business schools.

Dr. Amar put his psychic powers to work on the GMAT exam and business school trends, and asked the all-important question: Why do admissions officers hate Christmas so much?

A GMAT with fewer “experimental” questions is an improvement, but so many chances to help test-takers were missed.

After the Analytical Writing Assessment, or AWA, was temporarily dropped from the GMAT in 2020, Dr. Amar reasoned that the AWA was serving little purpose in the MBA admissions committee's selection process. Data provided by the testmaker showed that the AWA was providing little value and really just extending the test time unnecessarily. In 2024, the AWA requirement was temporarily dropped from the exam - only to be brought back as the "BWA." Finally the writing assessment was retired in 2026.

Business schools report average GMAT scores, quant/verbal scores, and GRE scores. Not many report the Integrated Reasoning average. Hmm, wonder why….
